Tbilisi Unveiled: A Journey Through Time & Taste
Our journey begins at the meeting point we have given you, namely our hotel, when we arrive in the vibrant capital of Georgia. Upon arrival, we meet our guide and are transferred to the hotel for check-in and rest.
In the afternoon, we embark on an Old Tbilisi Walking Tour, exploring the city’s most significant historical landmarks. Strolling through Ioane Shavteli Street, we admire the iconic Clock Tower of Rezo Gabriadze’s Puppet Theater, the 6th-century Anchiskhati Church, and the historic Sioni Cathedral. As we wander through Charden Street, we soak in the charming atmosphere before reaching the magnificent Metekhi Church (13th century).
We enjoy a delicious Georgian lunch at Kopala Restaurant before taking a cable car ride to the statue of Mother of Georgia, symbolizing the Georgian spirit of hospitality and resilience. We continue our tour to Narikala Fortress (4th century) and the famous Sulphur Baths, a hallmark of Tbilisi’s ancient wellness culture.
Next, we visit Sameba (Holy Trinity Cathedral), Georgia’s largest and most stunning religious site, offering breathtaking views of the city.
To complete the day, we indulge in a traditional Georgian dinner with live music and folk dance at In the Shadow of Metekhi or Georgian House Restaurant before returning to the hotel for a restful night.
After breakfast, we depart at 9:00 AM for a breathtaking journey through the Greater Caucasus Mountains, heading towards Kazbegi.
En route, we visit the Ananuri Fortress, a 16th-century castle complex overlooking the Zhinvali Reservoir, offering panoramic views of the serene landscape. Continuing our drive, we admire the picturesque mountain scenery before arriving in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi).
We stop for a delightful lunch at Panorama Kazbegi Restaurant, set against the stunning backdrop of the mountains.
Our highlight of the day is a visit to Gergeti Trinity Church (14th century), perched 2,200 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views of Mount Kazbek (Mkinvartsveri), one of Georgia’s most iconic peaks.
On our way back to Tbilisi, we stop at the Friendship Monument, an architectural masterpiece built in 1983 to commemorate Georgian-Russian
relations, providing another stunning viewpoint.
After breakfast, we depart at 9:00 AM for a scenic drive towards Napareuli, a charming village in Kakheti, Georgia’s famous wine region.
Our first stop is Alaverdi Cathedral, one of Georgia’s most significant religious sites, built in the 11th century.
We then visit the renowned Twins Wine House, where we explore a wine museum and taste authentic Georgian wines.
A delightful Kakhetian-style lunch awaits us in the Twins Wine Cellar, followed by engaging culinary experiences:
- Khachapuri-making masterclass – Learn how to prepare Georgia’s most famous cheese-filled bread.
- Churchkhela-making masterclass – Discover the secrets behind Georgia’s traditional sweet treat made of grape must and nuts.
After a day of cultural and gastronomic delights, we return to Tbilisi for a relaxing evening.
